The world in two minutes
Dagda, its gods, the Games and who you are. No spoilers.
Dagda is a large continent south-west of Fódlan, the setting of Three Houses. The game shares that world but is built to stand alone. Dagda's gods are not distant: they live among people, keep temples in the capital and will speak to you in person.
The Empire and its capital
The Dagdan Empire is a theocracy and the strongest power on the continent, with the kingdoms of Arago, Brezarant and Saramis as vassals. It is ruled by Solel, god of the sun, in place of its sleeping founder. Dagsion, the capital, is a city of more than a million built around a lake. It is your hub for Part I and Part III.
The Heroic Games
A gladiatorial tournament held in Dagsion's Great Arena over about six months of the year 1449. Teams fight through Qualifiers, a Main Match, a Semifinal and the Finals. Solel grants the overall winner one wish.
The four heroes
| Hero | Obelisk | Team | Why they fight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cai | Fox | Ribeira Winds | A farm boy who wants his imprisoned father freed |
| Dietrich | Lion | House Lamine | A swordsman from Fódlan looking for stronger opponents |
| Theodora | Wolf | Megaira's Beacon | Queen of Saramis, for her kingdom's dream and her goddess's honour |
| Leda | Eagle | Rose Tempest | A dancer hunting her father's killer |
You
You are Eshmel, sent by Sothis and working with Fortuna, goddess of fate. Your base is the Obelisk Chamber, a place outside normal time. Touching a hero's obelisk enters their story; each path is its own continuity in which your help lets that hero advance, which is why the same match can have a different winner depending on whose path you are on.
Flame Lords
Eight team leaders can use Blaze Arts and are called Flame Lords: the four heroes plus Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel and Anatolia. The other four are rivals in Part I. Each has a paralogue, and clearing it is how they come to fight for you later.
